What to look for in a tire brand?

What are the main things you should be looking at when shopping for tires?

The first thing you need to look for is the price. Is the brand offering market competitive prices? The second most important thing is obviously the quality. Are the tires designed to adapt to rougher terrains? The more they’re able to accommodate the absence of a smooth road, the higher the quality of the tire. If possible, convince your salesmen to take you for a test drive and try to analyze how the tires feel on the road.

Michelin

Would you really argue with the quality of a tire brand that builds tires for space shuttles? Established in 1889, Michelin is one of the leading tire brands in the world. This brand is ideal for you if you have a high-speed car, as it can easily sustain speeds as high as 60 mph. In addition to that, you can find a diverse range of tires for  motorcycles to trucks, and everything in between. The only downside is that these are very high prices, which can be expected when the quality is just as high to match.

Continental

The German company, Continental, provides a vast range of extremely safe tires that can sustain the brunt of a wide variety of rough terrains such as rocky roads or ice. Continental tires are, in fact, pretty well-designed for  ice, as they are made to withstand extreme winters. However, Continental tires are not ideal for all types of rough terrains, for instance they will not be able to do well in a muddy situation. Regardless, if you are a new driver, the stabilizing feel of these tires will be a great start to your life on the road.

Cooper Tires

While Continental and Michelin are great, they cannot match the prices of Cooper tires. Not only do you get a better cost, you will also find no compromises made with the quality. Similar to Continental tires, Cooper tires can sustain themselves in rough terrains, but, unlike Continental, do not have any limit to the terrains they support. Even though the range of Cooper tires is limited in terms of the number of tires they offer, they do have tires for vintage and classic cars, something which very few tire companies in the world offer.

Bridgestone

A Japanese company, Bridgestone, has a monopoly on the tire market in various regions of the world, especially India. There are very few places where you can find Ecopia and Turanza tires, and that is because Bridgestone has some of the greatest varieties of tires in the world. Not only can you find specialized tires for winters, but they also have tires specially designed for dry and wet climates. The price is pretty high, but you get your money’s worth.

BFGoodrich

Arguably the best tire manufacturer in America right now, BFGoodrich has a reputation for building high-quality tires that have significantly reduced the chances of road accidents. If you have a heavier vehicle such as an SUV or a truck, BFGoodrich is an excellent choice. They produce some of the best advance touring tires you will ever find. Similar to Cooper tires, you will find tires available for vintage cars, however, you won’t find as much of a range in other departments of BFGoodrich. All-terrain and mud terrain tires are also easily available.

So these are the top five tire brands you should look into when browsing the market for a tire. You can look at local or alternate brands for better prices, but there is a good chance that those tires won't last you as long as the brands above, or give you the smooth ride you’re dreaming of.
