This book follows the story of a normal girl and a normal family living in sunny California with plans for her life. Her father’s death changes this and she goes packing with her mother down to Maine, where things start spiraling out of her control. It is not just the teenage bullying she deals with at school or her mother spiraling into grief, it is the creepy house where they live that leaves her with goosebumps. A locked storage room she can not get into leaves her curious to get in. A page-turning creepy book definitely worth reading.
A Dowry of Blood by S. T. Gibson
Everybody knows who Dracula is. He has shaped how we look at vampires. Taking a story like Dracula and working on making it even darker and ominous is what Gibson set out to do with this book, and based on reviews, he did it well. A Dowry of Blood is the story based on Constanta, a book from the perspective of one of Dracula’s brides. Her point of view of being saved from the brink of death and being turned into a blood-sucking vampire. She has the knight in shining armor syndrome at first where she is in love with the one who saved as, as the story moves along she learns of Dracula's dark side and who he is.
