Be it an animal lover or just the average person tired of the urban concrete, everybody needs that special vacation, away from the gadgets and modernity, to recharge back at wildlife’s disposal. Here’s a list of the best safaris across the world.

Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti National Park is a paramount location in Africa and is ranked as one of the greatest safari resorts in the world. Amongst its various splendors, it is also famous as a place for spotting the Big 5 and provides a habitat to a plethora of ecosystems. Found in northern Tanzania, this national park is listed in UNESCO as one of the oldest surviving ecosystems on the planet. Filled with plants and animals that have rarely changed over the past several millennia, this park provides a surreal glimpse at nature.

The safari is a wondrous array of grassy plains and terrain, filled with all of the Big 5 and other classes of animals like the giraffe, the zebra, the uncouth hyenas, the fastest land runners i.e. the cheetah, and is home to even the rare African wild dog.

The Safari is also famous as the place to feast one’s eyes upon ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ – the Great Migration. Well over two million creatures which include the wildebeest, the zebra, the impala, and the gazelle, travel across the vast Mara River in a multitude of epic proportions each year seeking a resort to grassier lands. The event starts off each year around July, initiating towards the Masai Mara located in Kenya. The joint herd of animals consequently travels back a route spanning across a 1,000 km trackback to Tanzania around October or November when the rainy season is on the horizon.

Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park is South Africa’s oldest and most popular safari park. It covers an enormous two million hectares in the land, filled with exquisite animal habitat and a vast array of ecosystems. The safari is also home to the ancient village of the Shangaan people. The tribe is known for its inclusiveness and hospitality and a traveler can readily avail themselves of the once-in-a-lifetime chance at treating themselves to the local delicacies and enjoy the traditions and elegant culture of the Shangaan tribe.

Chobe National Park

Whilst a vast variety of other animal habitats may be located across the vast safari, over 120,000 elephants are reported to reside in the park and are thus easily spotted without much effort from the traveler. The numbers of the rhinoceros have unfortunately declined over the years due to various reasons, however, the traveler may not be too distraught since the species is being rebred and reintroduced across the natural habitat through modern methods.

Samburu National Reserve

Located in Kenya, this natural habitat flaunts exclusive rights to the Reticulated giraffe, the Grevy’s Zebra, the Beisa oryx, the Somali ostrich, and the gerenuk, which species of animal are solely found to exist within the special eco-system of the Samburu safari. The famed safari is also the very place where the renowned conservationists, George and Joy Adamson, raised the popular Elsa –the award-winning book and movie-worthy lion cub.

Etosha National Park

Famously dubbed as the national resort of Namibia, the safari is known for its rich desert landscapes. It is also home to endangered black rhinos whilst is perhaps the best place to get a glimpse of the white rhino, which can be sighted near the water reservoirs. There are no buffalo in most of the safari, but the creatures can be located near Waterberg Plateau.
